Sukhbir Badal announces to set up traders advisory committee to form taxation policy

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that Punjab Government would set up a traders’ advisory committee for excise and taxation department to give advice on taxation policy in the state.

This was declared by Mr Badal during Sangat Darshan here at Punjab Bhawan when representatives of Punjab Pradesh Veopar Mandal visited him to pay their regards for withdrawal of VAT amendment. Mr. Badal said that in the next 2 months he will meet personally to all traders’ associations and veopar mandals to redress their issues. Adding further he said that main aim to constitute consultation committee was to ensure active participation of traders in drafting the taxation policies. He assured that all sectors of trade sans political personalities would be given due representation in the committees.

To ease the impediments in taxation, Deputy CM also advocated the implementation of “trade wise tax” in the next 6 months. He informed that the excise department has been directed to prepare the data of each trade to frame the terms and fix tax slabs for each sector in consultation with the representatives of Industrial houses.

Mr Badal also said that state government has launched “Rahat Scheme” for traders to pay lump sum taxes besides providing insurance cover to all traders. It may be mentioned here that brick kilns, ply board industry and marriage palace owners have already opted for a lump sum tax.

During this Sangat Darshan more than 1175 people across the state today met the Deputy Chief Minister to redress their grievances and issues. Mr. Badal listened to their grievances very patiently and instructed the concerned officials to resolve their problems immediately. Most people registered their grievances against police, revenue, panchayats and civil cases.

Terming the Sangat darshan program as a fruitful exercise, Mr Badal said that people were highly benefited from this move as they were able to get their pending issues resolved immediately.

A team of senior officers comprising Mr Jangveer Singh Media Advisor to Deputy CM, Mr. P.S. Aujla Principal Secretary to Deputy CM, Mr Rakesh Chandra IG Law & Order, Mr Ajay Mahajan, Mr Manvesh Singh Sidhu and Mr Rahul Tiwari (all special principal secretaries to Deputy CM) were also present on this occasion to help the people in getting done their problems solved.
